Submarine Cables
Lumburn Consultants Limited has provided services to a number of international telecommunications companies on projects in Europe, USA, Asia and the Middle East.
Installed in 1999, the system provides a two-cable link across the Pacific Ocean. The northern segment linking Chongmin and Bandon, Oregon is over 10,000 km and the southern segment, linking Shantou
and San Luis Obispo, California is almost 12,000 km. On the US side there is
coastal link between Bandon and San Luis Obispo of approximately 1,250 km, while
on the Asian side there are a number of segments linking China, Japan, Korea,
Taiwan and Guam.
Installed
during 1999 and 2000, the system provides a two-cable link across the Pacific
Ocean totalling approximately 21,500 km. The northern link from Point Arena,
California, to Japan is approximately 8,500 km and the southern link from Morro
Bay, also in California, to Japan is approximately 11,300 km, routing via
Hawaii. There are three landfalls in Japan and also a coastal link between
Point Arena and Morro Bay in the United States.
Conceived as the next trans-Atlantic
cable system after TAT-14, a Route Engineering Study was carried out,
following which the project was put on hold.
Installed
in 2000, the system comprises seven major segments including a two-cable link
across the Atlantic Ocean between the United States of America and Europe,
having a total length of over 15,000 km. The northern trans-Atlantic link
between Manasquan, New Jersey and Blaaberg in Denmark
is approximately 7,360 km, while the southern link between Tuckerton, New Jersey and
Bude, United Kingdom is approximately 6,230 km. On the US side there is a link between Manasquan and Tuckerton while on the European side there
are links connecting Blaabaerg, Norden (Germany), Katwijk (The Netherlands), St Valery en Caux (France) and
Mevagissey (United Kingdom).
Installed
in 1999, the System connects Florida in the USA with Mexico, Honduras, Grand
Cayman, Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia. The total length is approximately 4,400
km.
Installed in 1999, this cable system
links the United Kingdom and Belgium, running from Dumpton Gap (near Broadstairs
in Kent) to Bredene.
When the system went operational in 1997, it was the longest (27,300 km) and most expensive submarine cable project to date, providing a direct fibre optic connection between the United Kingdom (Porthcurno) and Japan (Miura) with links into Spain, Italy, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China and Korea.
Installed
in 1996 as a state-of-the-art cable system for the Asia-Pacific region, it
connects Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia,
Singapore and Indonesia.
This was the first trans-Atlantic fibre optic cable system linking the USA (Rhode Island)
with Germany (Norden).
Assisting with system installation bid preparation involving the engineering and budgeting for specialised subsea engineering requirements, such as cable and pipe-line crossings and deep burial.
